One of the most famous dish in Hoian is Cao Lau which is not only delicious but also distinct flavor. According to locals, Cao Lau was created in Hoian from 17th century when Hoian still was a major harbor and has a lot of Chinese and Japanese coming to exchange goods. Today, visitors can taste Cao Lau dish in many different provinces in Vietnam, however, the most flavorful and delicious Cao Lau dish only can be found in Hoian.

Playing “Bai Choi”

“Bai Choi” is an interesting folk game which have been played in Vietnam for many centuries. There was a period Bai Choi has been forgottem before it appeared again in the center of Vietnam, especially in Hoian and Hue. Previously, Bai Choi is only played and performed in Spring Festival in Hue but now Hoian Culture and Sport Centre has brought it closer to locals and tourists. Accordingly, instead of only playing in full moon night each month, tourists can play this game in Old Town center every night.
